Custom Made Pens

A good friend of mine gave me his old lathe a few months ago, and I promised I would use it and learn to turn pens and other things.

About a month later, he asked me how it was going, and I unfortunately had to tell him that I haven’t tried to turn anything yet. I had never used one, didn’t know what to do or how to attach the wood or prepare pen blanks.

He very graciously and generously brought me to a local group’s meetup that was also an intro class to the lathe, it’s parts, and how to begin turning. He then invited me over and walked me through the process of turning a pen from start to finish. This cleared up so many things for me! I started turning pens as soon as my first few kits and bushings came in, and I’ve been turning out about 3-6 pens a week since on top of other projects and builds.

I plan on selling my creations as soon as I build up a big enough inventory of quality pens both here and on my Etsy page.

If you see a pen style you like and have a type of wood you would like it in, please reach out and we can discuss it!
